Tell Me I’m Here: SZ Memoir Becomes a Heart-Rending Play (ep. 54)

Show Notes

In 2022, the memoir Tell Me I’m Here, went from page to stage at the Belvoir Theatre in Sydney, Australia - to universal acclaim - like “a bold work, tackling difficult subject matter with empathy and insight”- and we have the playwright here with us today, with her own story to tell.

We are also thrilled that the theatre company used our podcast as part of their research.

Please welcome, from the UK, Veronica Nadine Gleeson

We ask:

  • What drew you to this project? Any personal connection with schizophrenia or other serious mental illness?

  • Tell us about the process of adapting the work to stage - and when did you begin the play?

  • Where else did you turn for research?

  • What did yo learn that affected you deeply?

  • Has it been produced elsewhere?

  • Can we bring it to the US?

  • What’s ahead for you?
